IVF with Egg Donor
About the treatment
IVF with Egg Donor treatment is a fertility option designed to assist individuals and couples struggling with infertility, where the intended mother cannot produce viable eggs. This procedure involves the use of donated eggs from a carefully screened and healthy donor. The donor eggs are fertilized with the partner’s or donor’s sperm in a laboratory setting, creating embryos.
These embryos are then transferred into the recipient’s uterus, increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy. IVF with Egg Donor treatment offers hope to those facing egg-related fertility challenges, providing a pathway to parenthood by utilizing healthy and high-quality donor eggs

Egg Donation
IVF with Egg Donor is used by women who are unable to use their own eggs to have a baby. These are some of the reasons a woman would need to use Egg Donation.
- Primary ovarian failure or menopause
- Ovarian damage following surgery, radiation or chemotherapy
- An inheritable genetic disorder
- Repeated failure to respond to ovarian stimulation in an IVF program
Success Rates
Our pregnancy rates for IVF treatments using fresh and frozen donor eggs in 2019 were 79%. The graph on the right demonstrates our pregnancy success rates over the years for Pedieos IVF, using fresh and frozen eggs. We are comparing our results to the latest pregnancy rates released by SART (Society For Assisted Reproductive Technology) in the USA (2018) which combines the reported results from all centers in the US performing IVF treatments with fresh and frozen donor eggs.

Anonymity
All countries have different rules and regulations regarding anonymity for IVF with Egg Donor treatment. In countries that require donors to be anonymous, the offspring and parents do not have access to the donor’s identity at any point in time. With non-anonymous donors (or open donors) the offspring (but not the parents) can request for the donor’s identifying information at a certain age (14, 16, or 18 according to the country).
Sperm and egg banks around the world are obligated to follow the rules of each country when they ship gametes to be used for embryo creation and transfer. Patients treated in Cyprus must comply with anonymous donation rules.

Age Limit
The age limit for IVF with Egg Donor is 50 years old. An application to the Board of Medically Assisted Reproduction can be made for women above this age for exemption.
Our Process

1. Donor – Recipient Matching
a. Phenotype Matching. You can now look for your own donor on our online database to find the perfect match based on your requirements. There are extensive filters that will help you find a donor that is suitable for you.
Alternatively, if you want one of our coordinators to find you a donor, you can fill out this form – Form 2, detailing your own characteristics as well as the desired characteristics of the donor. This information, along with a few photos of yourselves will help the coordinator find the perfect donor match for you. A dedicated coordinator will send you the best-matching Donor Profiles to review. If you are not fully satisfied with the donors provided, the coordinator will continue to provide additional options for you until a donor is selected.
b. Genotype Matching. All our donors are tested for 303 recessive genes. The sperm provider can also be tested for the same number of genes in order to avoid the development of an embryo with any of the 303 genetic diseases. This today is the ultimate of genetic testing in ovum donation treatment.

2. Preparation
If you decide to use fresh eggs, your cycle and that of the donor’s will be synchronised and stimulation will begin. This can be done under the supervision of our doctors at Pedieos IVF and the doctors at your local fertility center.
If you are using frozen eggs, you can start the preparation without the need of synchronisation with the donor.

3. Fertilisation & Embryo Transfer
The intended parents come to Cyprus for 3-5 days. We take the fresh sperm sample and inseminate the donor eggs. Embryo development takes 3-5 days, at which point we perform the embryo transfer to place them in your womb. If the sperm provider is not able to travel, or the woman recipient wishes to come to Cyprus for a shorter period, we can coordinate with your clinic to freeze and ship the sperm before you arrive to Cyprus. That way, the embryos will already be developed so you can come to our clinic only on the day of embryo transfer, thus saving significant traveling time.
